Imagine Nation – Interactive Kids Area

Where in the World? Australia!
Imagine Nation

The family area of the Scottsdale Arts Festival is called Imagine Nation. Located on the north side of City Hall, this area is open throughout regular Festival hours and provides art projects and entertainment for children and their families, all for free with Festival admission.

This year’s Imagine Nation, entitled Where in the World? Australia!, is presented in conjunction with Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts’ new year-long Discovery Series, which is exploring the arts of Australia and New Zealand during its inaugural season. Visitors will enjoy a variety of sights, sounds and hands-on art activities that engage participants in creative imagination while teaching about life Down Under (below the equator).

Imagine NationOn a brick path called Wallaby Way, a comic actor will offer fun activities to visitors, who will learn interesting facts about Australia, such as its location, climate, wildlife, people, arts and culture, and what you should see if you plan a visit there, from the Outback to the Great Barrier Reef.

At the Imagination Stations, community volunteers will help children and their families to create fun art projects, including paper “Aussie Hats.” Face-painting by P.A.F.F.Y. will be offered throughout the weekend and Dance Theater West will present interactive performances inspired by Australia on Saturday and Sunday. Friday is recommended for children’s and school groups and for children and families with disabilities.

Imagine Nation is made possible through the support of volunteers from Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts, Scottsdale Public Art, PeaceKids and Pax Academy, Boys and Girls Clubs of Scottsdale, Scottsdale Pride Commission and Free Arts of Arizona.
